sam and i have this thing where we try to outdo each other's surprises every year. and this year for his birthday, i wanted to out beat what i did last year(i threw him a monopoly themed party and got all his friends and I to chip in for an iphone). so i decided to buy him tickets to melbourne because he's always wanted to go to australia but has never been (poor baby...). i booked the flights and sorted most of the little details but i didn't know how i could package his gift. my best friend mei ying (she's real creative too!) suggested i put the tickets in a book about australia and that gave me an idea! i will write a children's book about him wanting to go to australia and at the end he gets given tickets to go and that's where the tickets will be... so i quickly wrote down a rough script in my notes app on my iphone and drafted out a storyboard to go with it. it was all very fun to do except when i was running out of time to work on it due to work load in the office and other commitments. however... i still managed to finish illustrating, printing and binding the book in a week's time. i had a little help with the layouts from my beautiful and talented friend nina of course! :)
anyway... here are some photos that my good friend adrian took of the book for me. it's nice to have many talented friends!
